Why STRETTO Started With the Waist

Most tights begin with the same compromise: an elastic waistband added to hold the garment in place.

It works, but it can also create pressure, leave a visible line under clothing, roll at the waist, or become increasingly noticeable after hours of wear.

STRETTO started with a different question: what if the waistband did not need to be there?

Our seamless waist construction removes the traditional restrictive elastic band. Instead, the waist is formed through the knit structure of the garment itself. The result is a continuous construction that sits smoothly against the body rather than relying on a separate band to grip it.

That difference is simple mechanically, but significant in wear.

Without a traditional elastic waistband, there is less concentrated pressure around the waist. The upper section can follow the body more naturally as you sit, walk, bend, and move through the day. It also creates a cleaner line beneath dresses, skirts, and fitted clothing.

This idea became the foundation of THE SEAMLESS, STRETTO's signature tight. Its seamless waist is paired with body-contouring four-way stretch and foot-shaped construction for a close fit from waist to toe.

STRETTO exists because legwear should be considered as carefully as everything worn above it.

Construction matters. Fit matters. The way a garment feels after six hours matters as much as the way it looks when first put on.

In music, stretto describes a passage that builds in intensity and momentum. For us, the name reflects the same idea: movement without interruption.

The goal is not to add more to tights.

It is to remove what should not have been there in the first place.
